Fotopoulos joins Ajax America

The Ajax America Women of the West Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) have added a former Women's United Soccer Association founding member Danielle Fotopoulos to its squad.

World Cup winning coach joins WPSL

One of the most recognized and respected names in the world of women's soccer will be adding their organization to the North Division of the East Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) this upcoming Summer 2007 season. Team owner and head coach Tony DiCicco will head SoccerPlus Connecticut.
DiCicco served as the head coach for the USWNT from 1994-99 and during his five-year stint, Tony compiled an impressive overall record of 103-8-8, giving him the most wins of any U.S. National Team coach. Along the way his teams completed a unique double by winning the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics and the 1999 Women's World Cup. He also led his team to five consecutive U.S. Cup titles, the 1998 Pan American Games gold medal and a third-place finish at the 1995 WWC. He was an assistant coach for the 1991 U.S. Women's National Team - which won the first WWC - and spent two years as an assistant for the U.S. Men's U-20 National Team.

Ellis Named Head Coach of U.S. Under-20s

U.S. Women's National Team head coach and technical director Greg Ryan has named Jillian Ellis as the new U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team head coach. Ellis will be charged with leading the team that will attempt to qualify for the 2008 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Chile.

With Ellis taking the helm for the U-20 team, Bill Irwin will take over as head coach of the Under-21 Women's National Team, which was led by Ellis in 2005 and 2006, as well as in 2000.

Former University of Notre Dame and WUSA star Anne Makinen has decided to end her international career.

No charges filed in alleged CSUDH soccer hazing

Prosecutors have decided not to file criminal charges in an alleged hazing initiation involving women's soccer players at California State University, Dominguez Hills, saying they could not determine whether anything went beyond college high jinks.

Citing insufficient evidence, the District Attorney's Office dismissed allegations made by former team member Holly Krueger, who alleged she lost her spot on the soccer squad because she refused to participate in hazing activities.
